Sarasota woman killed in head-on crash on SR 70 in Manatee County, troopers say
A 42-year-old Sarasota woman was killed in a crash in Manatee County on Friday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release Saturday.
The crash happened at 5:32 p.m. on State Road 70, east of Mizell Road.
According to troopers, the woman was driving west in her car on S.R. 70, east of Mizell Road. She then crossed the center line and entered the eastbound lane, where she was in the direct path of a driver in an SUV.
The Sarasota woman’s car crashed head-on with the SUV. She died immediately.
A 57-year-old Brunswick City, Maine, woman was the driver of the SUV. She suffered minor injuries from the crash.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
