New fast-casual restaurant opens in Lakewood Ranch with salads and acai bowls
Saladworks and Frutta Bowls, a healthy fast-casual combination, has opened in Lakewood Ranch.
The restaurant offers a variety of salads, fresh vegetables, fruits, proteins and dressings, as well as warm grain bowls, wraps and acai bowls and smoothies.
The restaurant is at 14555 State Road 70 and is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. It joins another recently opened restaurant in the area, Slim Chickens.
At Saladworks, which originated in New Jersey, customers can create unique salad combinations. They also have 12 chef-created signature salads and offer alternatives for people who are vegetarian, vegan, flexitarian, or subscribe to diets like Keto, Paleo and Whole 30.
The Frutta Bowls menu offers a variety of personalized bowls, smoothies, toasts and protein bites that are loaded with antioxidant-rich superfoods like acai, pitaya and kale, as well as almonds, blueberries, oats and dark chocolate.
The restaurant’s owners, Brian and Diana Gourley, said in a press release on Friday that they were passionate about opening the co-brand restaurant in Florida because it’s a place that has always felt like home.
Brian, originally from Nashville, and Diana, from Baltimore, both independently moved to their favorite state, Florida. After some time away, they relocated to Maryland to be closer to Diana’s family, but they wanted to return to Florida.
“Finding ways to give back is extremely close to our hearts and we are proud to partner year-round with organizations to donate a meal to children in need for every entrée purchased,” co-owner Brian Gourley said in a press release.
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers online ordering and delivery through third-party delivery providers Uber Eats, GrubHub and Door Dash.
