4-year-old, motorcycle driver die in two fatal Manatee-Sarasota crashes, FHP says
A Bradenton woman is in critical condition and a 4-year-old boy is dead after she lost control of her car in north Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The 39-year-old woman was driving south on U.S. 19 in Terra Ceia and lost control of her car while negotiating a left curve south of Bayshore Drive on Thursday, FHP said.
The woman was driving with three passengers, the 4-year-old boy, a 16-year-old girl and a 35-year-old woman, FHP said. When she lost control of the car, it went into the grass median and flipped, ejecting the 4-year-old who was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene, FHP said.
The driver was sent to an area hospital with critical injuries, while the other two passengers — also from Bradenton — had minor injuries, FHP said.
The crash, which happened at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, is under investigation, FHP said.
No other vehicles were involved, according to FHP’s report.
