Elderly man dies in fatal crash involving four vehicles, Bradenton police say

An elderly man died Sunday after driving his car into the path of an oncoming vehicle, the Bradenton Police Department tweeted.

BPD reported a two-vehicle crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Southern Parkway and 33rd Avenue Drive West, where the man made an improper left turn and hit the other car.

He wasn’t wearing a seat belt and died at a hospital “from injuries sustained in the crash,” BPD reported.

BPD reported the at-fault driver, who died, was driving around 20 miles per hour, while the other driver was going around 30 miles per hour. The speed limit is 35 miles per hour, and speed wasn’t a factor in the crash, BPD said.

Officers found the man unconscious, which led EMS to begin life-saving measures and take him to the hospital, according to BPD.

BPD reported a total of four vehicles were damaged in the collision.

Police have not released the name or age of the victim. Further details were not immediately available Monday morning.
