Colder, rainy weekend forecast for Bradenton on St. Patrick’s Day and spring break
Spring breakers in the Bradenton area should anticipate a not-so-picturesque St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Stephen Shiveley told the Bradenton Herald on Thursday, “We have a cold front coming through this weekend and it will bring unfortunately showers, some storms and breezy conditions.”
The front should start to slowly push through on Saturday but is expected to stall in South Florida. Southwest Florida will be impacted from Saturday into Sunday.
On Saturday, rain is expected in the late morning and early afternoon.
“And right along the beach, it will be breezy. There could be wind gusts up to about 25 mph,” Shiveley said.
A high of 80 is forecast for Saturday, and it’s going to be rainy, wet and windy, Shiveley said.
There’s also a 40% chance of rain that day.
According to Shiveley, a thunderstorm could bring gusts higher than that, but without a stronger storm, people should expect typical windy conditions.
Spring breakers and locals can expect much of the same weather conditions on Sunday too, just windier and colder.
“The fronts are going to be to the South and the cold air will be down,” Shiveley said. “Temperatures can be stuck in the mid-60s even along the coast on Sunday.”
Sunday will certainly be the coldest day, according to Shiveley. The day’s high is forecast at 67 degrees and the low is around 53.
Expect scattered showers and wind gusts of 30 mph.
“The scattered rain activity is going to be around all day,” Shiveley said. “It’s not going to be a washout, but it’ll rain randomly throughout the day on Sunday.”
The front could still have some lingering impacts on the area on Monday before it completely kicks out of the forecast on Tuesday.
While it’s not exactly beach weather, the latest samples show red tide has lessened in Manatee County with very low to medium concentrations, down from last week’s low to high concentrations.
