For the second time in a week, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in the Tampa Bay area.

On Saturday evening, a motorcyclist collided with the side of a Jeep at the intersection of Bee Ridge Road and Interstate 75 in Sarasota County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 20-year-old Sarasota man, was traveling east on Bee Ridge in the center lane when the Jeep driver, a 31-year-old Port Charlotte woman, was traveling west on Bee Ridge and attempted to make a left turn onto the I-75 entrance ramp, FHP said.

That’s when the man hit the side of the Jeep. He was takento a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, FHP said.

The FHP report said the crash remains under investigation.

Last week, a 50-year-old motorcyclist from St. Petersburg was killed in a crash on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, FHP previously reported. The motorcycle rear-ended an SUV that was slowing for traffic on the bridge’s descent, according to a crash report.
