Florida bill would allow Anna Maria Island beach parking garage. Read it for yourself

State Rep. Will Robinson filed a bill that would allow Manatee County Government to build a parking garage on Anna Maria Island without getting a building permit from Holmes Beach.

According to the bill text, the county would be authorized “to construct a certain parking facility and amenities within the territorial boundaries of the City of Holmes Beach under certain circumstances; requiring a permit for such construction to be issued by the county.”

Holmes Beach leaders have vowed to fight the bill, arguing that it would change the character of the island.

Here is the full text of House Bill 947.
