Bradenton man killed trying to cross Cortez Road on bicycle, FHP says
A 59-year-old Bradenton man died after he was hit by a van while crossing Cortez Road in Manatee County on Saturday night, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release Sunday morning.
The crash happened at 8:55 p.m. Saturday on Cortez Road, west of 20th Street West.
Troopers say the Bradenton man was attempting to ride his bike south across Cortez Road when he was struck by the front of a van driven by a 53 year-year-old man from Neosho, Missouri.
The Bradenton man was taken to HCA Florida Blake Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
He was not wearing a helmet, traffic investigators said.
The Missouri man was uninjured.
The crash remained under investigation on Sunday.
