How do you get rid of a Christmas tree in the Bradenton area? Here’s what to know

With the gifts opened and Christmas behind us, it’s time to consider what (unfortunately) has to come next: how to get rid of your tree.

The good news is that in Manatee County, disposing of your Christmas tree is straightforward. Simply place your tree along the curb where it will be collected along with yard waste on your usual collection day.

Because the landfill will remain open on the observed holidays for Christmas and New Year’s Day, there will be no delays for garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup this holiday season. Residents should follow their usual schedule.

County officials are also reminding residents to ensure all ornaments, lights, tinsel and other holiday decorations are removed from the trees before setting them on the side of the street. Artificial Christmas trees are not eligible for curbside pickup.

Trees larger than four feet tall should be split into smaller sections, county officials say.
