Roof fire at Palmetto business shut down a main road near Bradenton, firefighters say
A fire on the roof of a Palmetto business shut down Eighth Avenue West in both directions Wednesday afternoon as firefighters worked to put out the fire.
At 1:23 p.m., North River Fire District was called to Anderson & Associates Insurance Group, 810 8th Ave. W., to a report of a structure fire. A total of five engines and one ladder truck responded to the scene, including one unit from the Bradenton Fire Department.
Firefighters ran hose across the road and police quickly shutdown the road.
Everyone inside got out and there were no injuries reported. One ambulance, the fire chief and battalion chief also responded to the scene.
“Upon arrival they found smoke and flames showing from the roof that appears to be work was being done on the roof and it accidentally caught fire,” Captain Ryan Yanuzzelli said. “The first arriving engine here was able to quickly extinguish that.”
There was no major damage to the building, he added.
The road was quickly reopen and traffic was flowing.
