With peak holiday travel ahead, SRQ airport has seen a million more passengers in past year
Sarasota Bradenton International Airport has already seen a 25% increase in passenger traffic this year compared to last year, CEO Rick Piccolo said Friday.
SRQ also reported a 12% increase in passengers, totaling over 3 million, in October compared to the same time last year.
The increases reflects how the airport has grown in recent years.
Over the past 12 months, the airport saw 3,779,254 passengers, a 39% increase over the 2,719,941 passengers in the same period last year — or 1,059,313 more people.
This increase in travelers has led the airport to add additional parking this Thanksgiving holiday.
The airport will also offer $5 per day holiday parking at 8101 N Tamiami Trail from Nov. 21 to Nov. 23. Once the lot is at capacity, it will be closed.
Passengers who park in the lot will be provided with a courtesy shuttle service taking them directly to the terminal.
“For a stress-free travel experience, we ask that all passengers arrive at least 2 hours early, check your flight status, and visit TSA’s website for any questions regarding security screening,” Piccolo said in a statement.
New, returning flights at SRQ
During the next four months, the airport will launch new services and reinstate several that have been suspended.
