Beautiful beaches and hard-hitting stories: Apply for a 2023 Bradenton Herald internship

From capturing baby sea turtles scooting across white-sand beaches to reporting live from a breaking news scene, interns help the Bradenton Herald cover Manatee County.

This year, the Herald is celebrating a century of serving our community — from a daily newspaper printed on a linotype press in 1922 to a 24/7 online news outlet in 2022.

Nestled next to Sarasota, Bradenton is part of the fast-growing Tampa Bay area, where people of all ages from across the U.S. have flocked to take advantage of the scenic waters and year-round beach weather.

Manatee County is home to popular vacation destination Anna Maria Island, one of the fastest growing planned communities in the country Lakewood Ranch, and downtown Bradenton, also known as The Friendly City.

The Bradenton Herald has produced award-winning coverage, from breaking news of the Piney Point environmental disaster in 2021 to Florida Press Club’s top in-depth reporting award for stories on the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’re looking for interns who wants to experiment with new story formats and social media, and help bring archive photos of Bradenton’s history to life.
