When will it feel like fall in Bradenton? Here’s what weather forecasters say

It’s officially fall now that Thursday’s autumn equinox has passed, but sweater weather is still a ways off for Southwest Florida.

Manatee County in particular may not transition out of its current rainy season until November, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Christianne Pearce, who spoke to the Bradenton Herald on Thursday.

“We’re definitely in a warm pattern. We will probably stay like that for a couple more weeks,” she said. “Usually for Florida, it’s late October that we start to dry off and then get a little cooler.”

Pearce predicts that temperatures will drop soon, but not by much.

Warm Gulf of Mexico waters keep temperatures higher in coastal places like Manatee County, making it take longer for temperatures to fall below 60 degrees.

Typically, high humidity continues well into October, with dew points in the middle 60s to middle 70s and high temperatures in the middle 80s to lower 90s.
