Airbnb: 2 Florida cities are the most popular US places to visit on Labor Day weekend
Airbnb owners with homes in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida, are likely to do very well over the Labor Day holiday.
The two cities are this year’s top trending Labor Day weekend vacation destinations in the U.S., according to data collected by Airbnb, based on the number of nights booked for the long weekend.

Local Tampa Airbnb hosts made more than $790,000 in total during Labor Day 2021, with a median payout of more than $520.
In an email to the Bradenton Herald, Airbnb said that 41% of U.S. hosts said that one of the reasons they host is to make money to offset rising prices.
According to Airbnb, there is a huge demand for lodging in Florida cities like Tampa over the holiday weekend, but the city is more than prepared to accommodate the influx of visitors because of new listings.
Compared to last year, bookings for new listings on the platform are happening significantly faster. According to first-quarter data from the company, a new host typically books their first visitor within a week.
Liz DeBold Fusco, manager of public policy and communications at Airbnb, told the Bradenton Herald that more travelers come to the Tampa area at this time of year, when summer is almost done, to catch a few more rays of sunshine before fall.
The Tampa Bay area is becoming increasingly popular among remote workers. As part of their Live and Work Anywhere campaign, Airbnb also promotes Tampa on its website to visitors who are interested in staying long-term while working remotely.
Fusco said visitors who work remotely are looking more and more for hosts that provide living amenities like kitchens, washers, pools and free parking.
