New nonstop New York destination announced for Sarasota Bradenton International Airport

Breeze Airways announced Wednesday that it is adding nonstop flights between White Plains, New York, and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport starting Nov. 5.

White Plains is in Westchester County, a suburb of New York City. Introductory one-way fares start at $69.

The airline will also be adding one-stop/no plane change service to Norfolk, Virginia, starting Nov. 5 with introductory fares starting at $99 one way.

“White Plains, N.Y. will be a welcome addition to our 50-plus nonstop destinations served at SRQ,” Rick Piccolo, president and CEO of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, said in a press release.

Breeze Airways started service at SRQ in June with nonstop service between Sarasota Bradenton and Hartford, Connecticut.

SRQ, one of the fastest growing airports in the United States, has more than $200 million in construction projects underway or planned to handle the growth.

Projects include a new five-gate passenger terminal, an expansion for aircraft parking, an updated baggage handling system, a new consolidated rental car facility, a new customs facility for general aviation, a new ground transportation area and a revamped cellphone lot.

Breeze’s business model, which focuses on providing fast, efficient and affordable air service between under-served cities, uses mid-sized aircraft.

Breeze Airways began service in May 2021 from 16 destinations primarily in the east and southeast of the United States. In 2022, Breeze expanded west across the U.S., including coast-to-coast flights, and now offers nonstop routes between 31 cities in 19 states.
