A 63-year-old pedestrian from Bradenton was killed crossing U.S. 41 in Sarasota, FHP says

A 63-year-old Bradenton man died after being struck by a pickup truck while he was trying to cross an intersection in Sarasota on Friday, Florida Highway Patrol said in a press release.

It happened around 8:38 p.m., when a 21-year-old woman from Sarasota was driving east in the center lane of State Road 72, approaching a green light on U.S. 41.

The man tried to cross the intersection and walked into the path of the driver, according to the report. The front right of her vehicle hit him.

He died at the scene of the crash. FHP continues to investigate what happened.
