A train hit and killed a 32-year-old Palmetto man Tuesday evening in Manatee County, Florida Highway Patrol said.
It happened about 5:20 p.m. near Bayshore Road in Palmetto.
A train with 42 loaded cars was traveling south on the CSX rail line, approaching the rail crossing at 25th Street West, east of Bayshore Road.
The man was walking toward Bayshore Road and the CSX rail line when he “walked in front of” the train, FHP said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation, FHP said.
