Man seriously injured after Manatee County crash involving 18-wheeler on I-75, FHP says
A man crashed into a concrete wall after hitting the rear trailer portion of an 18-wheeler Saturday morning on I-75 in Manatee County, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
The crash happened at 12:05 a.m. on I-75 south at mile marker 211 between the Fruitville Rd and University Pkwy exits.
A 34-year-old man from Cutler Bay was in his pickup truck traveling south on I-75 with an 18-wheeler driving ahead of him.
He hit the rear end of the 18-wheeler, then he veered onto the shoulder of the interstate, crashing into a concrete wall, FHP said.
The man was seriously injured in the crash. An ambulance took him to the hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol is still looking for the driver of the 18-wheeler.
