Weather alert: Expect storms, then cold in the Bradenton area. What about next week?
Manatee County is under a series of weather warnings through the weekend.
Heavy storms will continue moving across the region through Saturday, and then the cold will arrive in the evening and overnight.
Storms could produce strong winds, isolated tornadoes, hail, heavy rain and frequent lightning.
Mariners and those near the water should be cautious of gale-force winds over the Gulf of Mexico. If you’re out on a boat, the conditions could be hazardous through Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
And if you’re swimming, take note: High surf and rip current advisories are also in effect through the weekend.
Cold weather
The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory that runs through 10 a.m. Sunday. With the wind chill, it could feel as cold as 25 degrees.
Rain, thunderstorms, and lower than normal temperatures for the spring-break season are in the forecast until mid-week.
