New video from inside a Florida trooper’s SUV shows her reaction in Skyway Bridge crash

New video released by the Florida Highway Patrol from insider a trooper’s SUV shows her reaction to a crash on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge after she blocked a vehicle from heading toward a crowd of runners.

Earlier this week, dashcam footage showed the crash involving FHP trooper Toni Schuck. The trooper used her police vehicle to block the driver, resulting in a head-on crash near the charity event race last Sunday.

The new video released Friday shows Schuck driving, and then her reaction to the crash from inside of her patrol vehicle.

The trooper’s bravery has been lauded by FHP and the community.

The investigation into the crash continues even though the rogue driver has been identified and arrested on charges of DUI, two counts of DUI with property damage, and two counts of reckless driving involving injury and property damage.

The driver, 52-year-old Kristen Kay Watts of Sarasota, had bypassed a closure on Interstate 275 closure and didn’t stop for police before the crash with Shuck’s SUV just after 8:45 a.m. Sunday, officials said.

Schuck is recovering from her injuries at home with her family, the FHP said.
