Bradenton couple risk it all on ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ game show and end up winning big
Micheal and Stacy Dunn won $21,180 on the CBS game show “Let’s Make a Deal” hosted by comedian and television personality Wayne Brady.
The couple met in New York and have been married for 18 years. They moved to Florida in 2006 to Indian Rocks Beach, and have lived in Bradenton for a year.
Micheal is semi-retired and works as a home inspector, and before he goes to work tunes in to “Let’s Make a Deal” and “The Price Is Right.”
“I thought to sign Mike up for the show because he watches it all the time,” Stacy Dunn said in a phone interview. “Then the producers called and said they wanted a couple so, I had to go ahead and do it.”
The show aired last week in a hybrid style, with some contestants competing in the studio, while others were at home on a video call.
The Dunns joined the game on a Zoom video call from their home in Bradenton. Stacy wore a leopard outfit and pained her face with whiskers, and Micheal dressed as a game warden.
The show is known for having its contestants dress in fun costumes while competing to win prizes like designer handbags, cars, cash, and expensive vacations by striking deals with the host.
Midway through the episode, Wayne Brady selected the couple to compete. They had to pick between two prizes, Stacy picked a Jimmy Choo designer handbag with $500 inside and passed on a Lake Tahoe trip worth $2,803.
Micheal had to choose between a Versace man bag or a tiny envelope. He picked the envelope which had a four-day trip to New Orleans inside.
During the close of the show, the top three winners are asked to forfeit their winning or pick between three doors for a chance at the “Big Deal.”
Two of the winners decided to keep their prizes, a brand new car and a vacation to Iceland, but Micheal and Stacy decided to go for it.
“Stacy wanted door number three and I wanted door number one,” Michael Dunn said. “We decide to flip a coin and I won the flip, and when the show came back from commercial I got to pick a door number.”
Behind door number one was a vault and inside was the grand prize of $21,180.
“It was a good thing that Mike won the coin toss,” Stacy said.
Because of their contract with CBS, they could not tell anyone they had won, including their family which was difficult for them.
“It was hard! Very, hard!” Stacy said. “ We have seven children and 18 grandchildren so, it was really hard not to tell them we won this big prize.”
Now that the show has aired they have to wait 90 days to collect their winnings. They plan on saving the money.
