Truck hits Manatee County school bus and flees scene, injuring a student, FHP says

A Manatee County school bus was involved in a wreck with another vehicle Friday morning.

At approximately 9:07 a.m., a silver dodge pickup truck was traveling east on State Road 70 near the intersection at Saddelbag Trail, when a school bus transporting 11 students was stopped in front with its stop bar extended facing west, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

FHP said the truck hit the stop bar extender, and one student was transported to a local hospital with a minor injury.

No other students or the 50-year-old Bradenton man driving the school bus were injured, FHP said.

No details about the pickup truck were released.

If anyone has any information, FHP requests you to contact them at 239-938-1800.
