Fire at a Bradenton townhome complex closes intersection and displaces a family

A fire displaced one family from a six-unit complex Thursday near 44th Avenue East and 9th Street East in Manatee County.

The Southern Manatee Fire and Rescue Chief Robert Bounds said smoke and flames were coming from an upper unit.

“All the other units, people are not home right now,” Bounds told the Herald. “So that was the only one that had anyone home and there was a grandfather, his daughter and her child. And they all got out without any kind of injury or incident.”

Bounds said they are townhome units and the one that was on fire is not habitable.

The incident closed the intersection at 44th Avenue East and 9th Street East, according to SmartTrafficInfo.org.

Bounds said they have not gone through the other two units by the one that had the fire to assess any water or smoke damage completely yet.

The complex had a sign, “Anmark Properties LLC” on a fence by the building.
