9-year-old hit by a car after running into Bradenton road, police say

A 9-year-old boy was hit by a car Thursday afternoon when he ran out into the street, according to the Bradenton Police Department.

The boy was hit just after 4 p.m. Thursday in the 2300 block 5th Street West and airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital as a precaution following standard protocols in such incidents, Capt. Brian Thiers said.

The boy was not seriously injured and was released from the hospital to his parents later Thursday, according to police.

“This is always a reminder to parents to educate children on playing in the street and to always look both ways,” Thiers said.
