Bradenton water main hit during private dock install. Shut-off will affect some residents.
Some Bradenton homes will be without water temporarily after a large drinking water main in the Braden River was punctured on Tuesday during the installation of a private dock, Manatee County Government said in a news release Thursday afternoon.
The 36-inch wide potable water main is near where 40th Avenue East meets the Braden River, just west of Morgan Johnson Road.
After inspections by county staff and a dive team, Manatee County officials say there is no threat to surrounding properties from the leak.
The water main was already scheduled for replacement as part of the expansion of the 44th Avenue bridge, and it will now be taken out of service early.
The process, planned for mid-November, will cause a temporary inconvenience for some residents who live in the surrounding area, the release said.
Water will be shut off for those residents starting at 9 p.m. Nov. 16 through until 5 a.m. Nov. 17, according to the county.
All impacted residents will be notified directly about the shut off by the Manatee County Utilities Department, according to the press release.
