More lane closures planned on I-75 for Manatee River bridge repairs
More overnight lane closures are scheduled for Interstate 75 to accommodate deck repairs on the Manatee River bridge.
Work will take place 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Motorists should expect north-bound right lane closures, the Florida Department of Transportation said Tuesday in a press release.
To accommodate the change in schedule, work on I-75 over the Salt Marsh bridge will now begin on Monday, Sept. 7, through Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect intermittent north bound lane closures. Motorists should use caution and follow directions.
Two years ago, the Herald reported that FDOT plans to construct new bridges over the Manatee River for up to 10 traffic lanes, plus a new northbound exit ramp and a new southbound entrance ramp.
In addition, the existing partial cloverleaf interchange at U.S. 301 will be replaced by a constricted diamond configuration. Projected cost for the 1.1-mile project: $190 million.
To date, there has been no time table announced for the project.
