Manatee County museum offers free grab bags of planting and farming fun
The Manatee County Agricultural Museum, home to exhibits on the area’s farming past and present, has a creative new way to spend some time during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The nonprofit is offering free grab bags full of plant and animal fun for families.
There are four different themed “Fun with Ag Bags” from which to choose.
A planting bag comes with the makings of a miniature vegetable and flower garden; a butterfly bag contains craft projects and educational material about the pollinators; a dairy cow bag has butter-making instructions, craft ideas and learning materials; and a tree bag includes creative projects and learning activities.
There will be 40 of each bag variety available, according to the museum. Orders must be placed by 5 p.m. Aug. 12 and can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at the back door of the Manatee County Agricultural Museum, 1015 Sixth St. W., Palmetto.
The grab bags can be reserved online or over the phone at 941-721-2034.
Though the activity bags are free, donations to the museum are always welcome.
The museum reopened with limited hours and visits by appointment only at the end of June. Current exhibits include explorations of turpentine production in Manatee County, tomato farming families, aquaculture and a display of artworks inspired by Florida nature.
