Lottery lucky streak continues as Sarasota man becomes third millionaire in as many weeks

A 49-year-old Sarasota County man became the third area millionaire in as many weeks after scratching off a $1 million prize, according to Florida Lottery officials.

Benjamin Evans, of North Port, opted for a lump-sum payment of $760,000.

The prior two winners, in both Sarasota and Bradenton, played the “Fastest Road to $1,000,000.” Evans opted to purchase a “$5,000,000 Luck” scratch-off ticket, which offers $5 million as its top prize.

Evans purchased the winning ticket from a Publix at 1291 S. Sumter Blvd. The grocery chain will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

The $20 Luck tickets offer six top prizes of $5 million and $329 million in overall cash prizes. The Florida Lottery launched Luck in September.
