Pandemic got you lonely? Adopt a pet from Manatee Animal Services for free

Manatee County Animal Services will be waiving pet adoption fees beginning Saturday in lieu of donations to the Friends of Manatee County Animal Services.

The waiving of fees will continue through the end of August and is part of a national campaign to clear overcrowded animal shelters.

Adopters will still be required to pay a $20 licensing fee.

Donations to the nonprofit Friends of Manatee County Animal Services enriches the lives of shelter animals by providing additional resources, medical care and heartworm treatment.

The national event has resulted in over 410,000 pet adoptions nationwide since it began six years ago.

If you take home a new fur baby that is considered to be long-term sheltered, a complimentary gift bag of food and pet supplies will be given out, but supplies are limited.

The shelters, located at 305 25th St. W., in Palmetto, and 216 Sixth Ave. E. in Bradenton are available for visitation by appointment only. Visit mymanatee.org/pets to reserve an appointment and fill out an adoption profile.
