28-year-old Sarasota man is lottery’s newest millionaire

A 28-year-old Sarasota County man is Florida’s newest millionaire after winning a $1 million scratch-off prize playing “The Fastest Road To $1,000,000.”

Michael Hager bought the winning scratch-off at a Walmart store in Venice.

Hager opted for a lump-sum prize, walking away with a cool $790,000.

The game was launched in February. Tickets are $30 each.

Scratch-off tickets make up about 69 percent of the Florida Lottery’s revenue, generating $965 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
