Woman dies in head-on crash in Myakka City. Two boys in her car, other driver seriously hurt
A 38-year-old Myakka City woman was killed and two children were seriously injured in a head-on crash on State Road 64 on Tuesday afteroon, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The other driver also was hurt.
About 4:07 p.m., the woman, whose name was not released, was driving a Ford sedan west on State Road 64 near Verna Bethany Road, when she passed a vehicle in front of her and collided with an eastbound Chevrolet SUV heading east that was being driven by a 38-year-old man from Zolfo Springs, according to an FHP report.
Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Two children, a 10-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy, were flown to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, where they were each listed in critical condition.
The driver of the truck was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, where he was listed in serious condition, according to FHP.
The crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
