Driver dies in fire after crashing into construction equipment in Parrish, troopers say

One person died in a fiery crash after they drove off of U.S. 301 in Parrish and crashed into construction equipment, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 12:45 a.m. Monday, the driver was headed north on U.S. 301 when they lost control of their car near the intersection with Old Tampa Road, according to a news release. The car went off the road into the grassy media and hit construction equipment.

The impact caused a fire, engulfing the car in flames and killing the driver.

Troopers have not yet been able to positively identify the victim or notify next of kin.
