Wake up in this Manatee County neighborhood without water? Here’s why

A water main line break is why several residents woke up without water Tuesday morning, according to Manatee County.

Frustrated residents in the Palmetto Point neighborhood reported having a difficult time getting answers from county workers on the scene considering they had no water during a stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Nick Azzara, Manatee County information outreach manager, said repairs were completed around 11:30 a.m. and service is being restored.

No boil-water notice will be necessary, according to Manatee County.

Azzara said the breakage impacted residents within a 10-block area. While the county didn’t have a specific cause for the break, Azzara said it’s an area with aging lines and is on the county’s schedule to be replaced.
