Sarasota motorcyclist killed in Bradenton crash

A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday evening on Cortez Road after he crashed with a SUV, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers say Seiji Esquivel, of Sarasota, was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

According to the crash report, about 6:45 p.m. Esquivel was westbound “at a high rate of speed” on Cortez Road approaching the driveway of the Denny’s near Fifth Street West as the driver of the SUV was attempting to turn into the driveway of the restaurant at the same time.

The motorcycle struck the SUV, causing Esquivel to be thrown from the bike.

FHP continues to investigate the crash.
