Ready for a little ruff-housing? Renovated Scentral Park dog park to open in Holmes Beach

It’s sure to be a tail-wagging good time on Anna Maria Island on Saturday as the city of Holmes Beach celebrates the dedication of the newly renovated Scentral Park dog park.

The park is a paw-fect setting for an island getaway with your four-legged best buddy and while the free human food menu doesn’t get specific, there may be a hot dog or two in the litter.

Friends of Manatee County Animal Services made the long-awaited announcement on Wednesday, with a ribbon-cutting event planned for 9 a.m. and a celebration lasting until noon.

The park has gone through some major renovations over the past two years. Amenities of the park include separate areas for small dogs, a splash pad, canine and human water fountains and plenty of running space. The new and improved gazebo offers updated seating and plenty of shade during the dog days of summer.

So grab your fur babies and your fur-ever friends and head to 6000 Flotilla Drive for the big day.

Animal and human-related vendors will be on hand to help celebrate and there will be giveaways at this free event.
