Bradenton motorcyclist in critical condition after crash, FHP says
A 27-year-old Bradenton man is in critical condition after after he was struck by a turning vehicle while riding a motorcycle.
The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at 63rd Avenue East and Parkland Drive in south Manatee County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The 27-year-old Bradenton man was riding a Kawasaki Ninja sports bike eastbound in the left lane of 63rd Avenue East.
An 18-year-old Bradenton man in a Ford Focus was in a left a turn lane on 63rd Avenue East.
When the driver of the Ford attempted to turn left onto southbound Parkland Drive, the front left of his vehicle struck the motorcycle.
The collision caused the rider to separate from the Kawasaki and travel towards the rear of a Manatee County Area Transit bus. He came to a final stop underneath the bus, troopers say.
The motorcycle rider suffered critical injuries and was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Ford was uninjured.
The incident remains under investigation, according to FHP.
