Ready to get in the Christmas spirit? Annual Bradenton lights tour is coming up
MCAT’s Tour of Lights, an annual Christmas tradition in Bradenton, will roll through west Bradenton on Friday, offering riders on county buses a glimpse of decorated homes.
It doesn’t cost any money, but does require a donation of a nonperishable food item to help feed the hungry or an unwrapped toy for Toys-for-Tots.
Other than that, grab a seat and enjoy a 90-minute ride through west Bradenton’s most decorated neighborhoods.
More than 1,000 people participate in the annual event, which dates back to 2002 when resident Ted Nowosad asked the county commission to come up with a way to help seniors get around to see Christmas lights. The Tour of Lights was born and is a popular draw every year.
Seating is limited and offered on a first come, first served basis. Passengers should gather at the State College of Florida’s Building 29, 5840 26th St. W., no later than 6:15 p.m. Buses will depart beginning at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to collect your donations.
MCAT, as well as the Manatee County School District, will provide the transportation.
