Investigators had to use DNA to identify Myakka teen as victim in crash

A Myakka City teenager has been identified as the person killed a in a traffic trash last month, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lucian Lee Rister, 19, died at the scene of the early morning Nov. 22 crash, investigators announced in a news release on Monday. Investigators had to use DNA analysis to confirm his identity.

The teen had been headed west on Singletary Road in a 4-door Hyundai at about 5 a.m. on that Friday, approaching Rexrode Road, when he drifted into eastbound traffic at a curve in the road, according to news releases. The car went through a wire fence before ultimately crashing into an oak tree.

Troopers are asking anyone with any information about the crash to call the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800 or dial *347 (*FHP) on a cell phone.
