Man who was struck by car in Sarasota dies at hospital, police say.
The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
The crash occurred just before 8:45 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of 10th Street and North Tamiami Trail and shut down the roadway for several hours as police investigated.
The man who was struck was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and later died of his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was being cooperative with police.
The investigation remains ongoing.
