Woman dies in crash at Parrish intersection
A 22-year-old Manatee County woman was killed in a traffic crash in Parrish on Monday evening, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened about 6:35 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 301 and County Road 675, according to a news release.
Ashley Rhodes was driving a 2011 Honda Accord west on County Road 675 when she failed to stop at the intersection with U.S. 301 and was hit by a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500 heading north on U.S. 301 while she was trying to make left-hand turn, according to FHP.
Rhodes was taken to a local hospital where she died, FHP said.
The driver of the Dodge, a 16-year-old boy, and his 16-year-old passenger, were not injured.
The crash shut down the intersection for several hours as troopers investigated. It has since been reopened.
