What do you want Manatee’s new middle school to be named? Check out the nominees here
The Manatee County School Board released 27 name nominations on Thursday for a new middle school slated to open in east Manatee in August 2019.
Names such as “Dave Watchdog Miner,” “Trump Middle,” and “East Wood Middle” are on the list.
The school will be located just east of Gullett Elementary School on 44th Avenue East.
The name nomination process began during a community meeting held at Gullett on Dec. 18. The district’s Communications, Family and Community Engagement Department collected the nominations from the public up until Jan. 31, which were able to be submitted by email, mail or delivered in person to the school support center.
The school board is scheduled to narrow down the list three favorites during a workshop meeting on Tuesday, March 13. The meeting begins at 5:45 p.m. and the public is welcome to provide input on the nominated names.
