A Florida-based restaurant chain is furthering its southern expansion with two new restaurants in the Sarasota area.

Metro Diner, known for its creative takes on classic comfort food, announced it will open the locations – one in Sarasota and one in Venice – within a week of each other.

The first Sarasota location opened its doors last summer.

The chain is known for its affordable menu and unique menu items such as cinnamon roll pancakes and Charleston shrimp and grits. There are plans for further growth in 2018: The company hopes to establish 35 new diners during the year.

The 6056 N. Lockwood Ridge location marks Metro Diner’s 50th restaurant and is scheduled to open March 13.

On March 20, a location is slated to open at 2053 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice.

“As we celebrate the opening of our 50th diner, we are truly excited about the way our thousands of guests have embraced the passion and commitment we have to serving them – every day – The Metro Diner Way,” Hugh Connerty Jr., co-chairman of Metro Diner, said in a release.

“This is the first of many significant milestones we hope to celebrate in the coming years as we bring the unique hospitality of Metro Diner across America.”

With the new restaurants opening soon, Metro Diner will have 22 locations in Florida. The company also has branched out to nine other states with plans to introduce restaurants in more this year.
