Sign-off footage for ‘CBS Sunday Morning’ was serene. It was your backyard
In its signature sign-off, “CBS Sunday Morning” left its national viewing audience today with the sights and sounds from Myakka River State Park.
For the last moments of the telecast, the network let the park, which includes sections in both Manatee and Sarasota counties, do the talking.
The soothing sounds of wintering birds as they hunt, feed, splash and preen.
The pristine, old Florida forest.
And, of course, lots of close-ups of mellow alligators soaking up the state’s famous sun and keeping an eye out for the next meal.
For some TV viewers, seeing the old stomping grounds was a bit nostalgic.

Hundreds if not thousands of White Pelicans are wintering in Myakka River State Park and the surrounding area. Fortunately these two moved away from the main mob of birds on the lake to give a momentary silhouette at sunset.
