USPS mail carrier in critical condition after crash in Parrish

A U.S. Postal Service mail carrier is in critical condition after her mail delivery vehicle was struck by an SUV, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The 39-year-old USPS employee was traveling westbound on County Round 675 in Parrish. After stopping at a stop sign at the road’s intersection with U.S. 301, she drove into the path of a 2014 Chevy Suburban, which collided with the left side of her vehicle around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The 31-year-old driver of the Suburban sustained minor injuries and has been taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical. The mail carrier was transported to Blake Medical Center.

Charges are pending, according to FHP.
