Bradenton woman killed while standing along I-75
A Bradenton woman was killed when a Freightliner truck collided with her and a man early Tuesday on Interstate 75 in Venice.
A 1994 Toyota Tacoma was stopped on the right shoulder of Interstate 75 just south of County Road 765 near mile marker 193 around 1:44 a.m. Tuesday. Kayla D. Dicintio and a 24-year-old Bradenton man were standing along the driver’s side, adjusting the load in the bed of the truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, while a third person, a 24-year-old Bradenton woman, sat inside.
But tragedy struck when a 2016 Freightliner truck, traveling north in the right lane of I-75, hit Dicintio and the 24-year-old man, according to FHP.
Dicintio, 24, of Bradenton was killed in the collision. The 24-year-old man, who had been driving the Tacoma and standing along the road with her, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, according to FHP. The third person, who was sitting inside the truck, was not injured.
The 46-year-old Tampa man driving the Freightliner was also not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
