Bradenton man killed in Sunday morning crash on State Road 70

A 66-year-old Bradenton man was killed Sunday morning after losing control of his vehicle on State Road 70, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Doy R. Myers was traveling westbound on S.R. 70, east of 37th Street East, at about 7 a.m. when the accident occurred, the FHP said.

Myers’ 2000 Honda Civic left the right side of the roadway and struck a curb on the north shoulder of S.R. 70.

The vehicle continued across a parking lot, striking another curb and a tree before coming to a final rest in a ditch on the east shoulder of 37th Street East, the FHP said.

The FHP said he was not wearing a seat belt, and tests are pending to determine whether alcohol was a factor.
