A fire Tuesday afternoon destroyed a mobile home, but its residents were able to escape unharmed.

At about 4:24 p.m., a passerby reported a fire at the WT Mobile Home Park at 3708 Manatee Ave. W., according to Richard Losek, West Manatee Fire Rescue battalion chief.

Losek said the cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal and West Manatee Fire Rescue.

About 17 firefighters and three engines responded to the scene, and the blaze was brought under control in 10 minutes, Losek said. No firefighter injuries were reported.

Units from West Manatee Fire Rescue, Bradenton Fire Department, Manatee County EMS, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Manatee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

An estimate of damage was not available, but the home was a total loss, Losek said.
