Watch out for new traffic patterns on this busy road
New traffic patterns for State Road 64 drivers headed to southbound Interstate 75 will start this weekend as part of an ongoing multi-million dollar roadway improvement project.
On Nov. 19, overnight crews with the Florida Department of Transportation will close the existing cloverleaf on-ramp from the right side of westbound State Road 64. Drivers will have to pass under the overpass and make a left turn onto the on-ramp.
A temporary southbound I-75 on-ramp for eastbound State Road 64 traffic will also be established.
Exit 220A, which had spilled northbound I-75 cars onto eastbound State Road 64, will be closed until late summer 2018, according to FDOT. Northbound drivers should use exit 220B for eastbound and westbound traffic.
Also, temporary southbound I-75 lanes will slightly shift toward the median.
The $39.1 million project, which which will include changes to on- and off-ramp access as well as routes on State Road 64, is expected to be completed in 2019. Two other major projects along I-75 at State Road 70 and U.S. 301 are also planned for the future.
Crews will not be working from Nov. 22 through 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
