With Christmas fast approaching, police officers have partnered with a local business to donate toys to foster children.

Bradenton police will accept donations from the public of new, unwrapped gifts for children of all ages. Those interested in donating to the toy drive will have until Dec. 10 to drop off their donations at a collection bin at the Bradenton Police Department main station, 100 10th St. W., Bradenton.

The toy drive will officially kick off Saturday with an event at The Farm House, 902 Manatee Ave. E., Suite A, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bradenton police officers will be there to display motorcycles, patrol vehicles and other police vehicles as donations are dropped off.

To encourage donations, The Farm House, a design and custom furnishings and gourmet mini donut establishment, will have a mini-donut special as well. Those who donate a toy and buy a dozen donuts will get six mini-donuts free.

“The kids are what it is all about this holiday season,” Steven Sheardown, owner of The Farm House along with his wife and business partner Nancie Sheardown, said in a news release.
