Beauty and the beast? This bearded dragon is her best friend.
He basks in the sun, just outside the open garage doors where loud music booms and athletes train at CrossFit 941. This, according to his owner, Mandy Allen, is Kilo the bearded dragon’s happy place.
“He’s so handsome!” says Allen with a smile as she cuddles her scaly pet.
He’s been known to give athletes a scare as he hides behind weights and other gym equipment, stoic and unmoved by shouts of surprise and fear. Visiting children can’t wait to see the dragon, who allows the small, curious hands to touch his scales with barely a blink.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it’s been said, and as Kilo’s tongue darts out to scoop up a lunch of worms, he does look sort of cute.
If you squint.
